“Myo… what??”, “What exactly are you doing?”, “I’m not sure what you did but it worked! We get lots of questions in the office about myofascial release, what it is, and what we do. Today we wanted to spend a little time talking about fascia and making sense of it all!

Fascia is a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a 3 dimensional web from the head to the feet, without interruption. It can be though of as an invisible wet suit of our bodies. Trauma, surgery, or inflammation often restrict fascia, which in turn causes pressure and pain through out the body. In its normal healthy state fascia is relaxed and has the ability to stretch and move. Inflammation within the fascia can cause loss in range of motion limiting daily life style activities. Myofascial Release (MFR) is a hand on technique guided by ones body wisdom allowing its fascia to stretch, release and return to a more health state.

Myofascial Release is experienced differently for everyone and every session is different! Let us know if you have any questions about MFR in your next session and we’d be happy to help!
