This technique is amazing at calming the nervous system, syncing the cranial nerves (which further calms the nervous system), the vibration can help expand releases throughout the body and we can use it to reveal other areas of restriction. So. Many. Things!

I learned this from my friend, Lois so her name is a great way to remember the steps.

L – Lips gently together

O – mouth relaxed in soft position with teeth apart

I – Inhale and exhale through your nose

S – breathing should be silent

Once comfortable with your breathing, add a hum to your exhale. After you breath and hum a few times, swallow at the end of your hum. Do this 3 times. If you attempt swallowing and body just isn’t, no big deal at all. Just breathe and hum again until the swallow comes. The body is often reorganizing.  Don’t rush it.

This is particularly great to use to calm your system to settle in to better sleep. It’s also great if something startles you or gets your adrenaline going to bring the system back down out of fight or flight. I also use it when concentration is needed, like for my kids’ tests, learning new skill, trying to be fully in my body when doing a movement or anytime I want to feel fully connected – so truly anytime! Give it a try!
