Hi all, it’s Courtney. You know we want you guys to know about all the options you have when it comes to pelvic health. It’s been a while since we have talked about options for your period. Some may not be ready for this topic, but I am going to talk about it anyway. You know us – no TMI here! I have been using period underwear for the past 8 months – yes – I said period UNDERWEAR. Ya, I know some of you cringed. I honestly kind of had the same thought initially, mainly because I just had no idea HOW that would work…..and if they ACTUALLY would work! I feel like since I have used them for 8 months that was a good amount of time to give you an update on how they have been working for me.

One day I came across the ad for Period Company underwear. (Mind you I have learned there are SO MANY BRANDS so there are way way more options than this brand) What I liked about this brand was they have Light and Heavy underwear options. I noticed they advertise that their heavy ones can hold up to 8-10 TAMPONS WORTH!!!!! Meaning, it is meant to hold that much in ONE pair of underwear for the whole day!!!…Yep….I’ll let that settle in.

I know that it may sound super weird to not have to change it, I did, too. But I decided to try it on my first heavy day when I first got them – and I literally felt ok in them from 9am-6pm!! Now – obviously when you go to the bathroom throughout the day, you still clean yourself up like you would with pads – but I literally thought I would for SURE be sitting in a puddle all day, but I take toilet paper every time and blot the pad and hardly ANYTHING sticks back to the tissue!

I have about 7 undies in my “stash”, and have been pretty comfortable with that amount, enough to wear while I wash the dirty ones. What I also love about them is, NO MORE WASTING PADS when you think you are about to start your period, just throw the underwear on. I joked with my husband the other day that I “set it and forget it”. I do like to have one to possibly change into halfway through the day on my heavy days if I do want to feel a little more fresh, but I would be fine if I didn’t have them. They do have Sleeper shorts that weren’t in stock (I just ordered 2 because they are back in), but the high waisted have worked fine at night, maybe had one night of leaking in the 8 months, and I think it just bunched weird from positioning. Washing is SUPER easy, yes you CAN wash it with everything else, it is totally safe to do so, but they recommend that you can also rinse them in the sink prior to throwing in the wash. They are so soft and comfortable – and AFFORDABLE. This brand sells most of the underwear for $12! The Sleeper is $24. Other brands can vary up to $40-45/pair, and some other brands have cuter prints/lace/sexy options, which is great to know, but thought it would be good for you guys to know about an affordable option.

I wore light colored linen shorts the other day on my HEAVY day. The heavy ones are a little thick, but I would absolutely expect that if it is going to hold that much, it doesn’t bother me at all.

Happy period!

Please let us know if you have any questions!
