2 dreaded words. Flu season. There is a lot of great info out there on boosting your immune system and whether or not to get your flu shot, but I’m talking today about what to do to protect your pelvic floor when you cough or sneeze! There can be many causes of incontinence. Most people blame weakness, but many of my clients have a combination of weakness and tissue restrictions. There are some things you can do Watch the video then scroll on down for some tips just for you!

So we talked about some weird things – canister, cue, legs up the wall, cardiac pillow? What is happening? Whether you have diastasis, post partum weakness, pelvic floor dysfunction or painful sex, coughing can cause leakage and there is help!!! Working on your core, making sure to sync your breath with your pelvic floor, avoiding kinking that canister and there should be some improvement.

Obviously, you may still not be sure if you have restrictions or just weakness. One way to know is if strengthening, such as kegels, isn’t working, there is likely more going on. I’m happy to help you sort it out or if you need help with your cue, give me a call!
